Employment protection in Norway
– what are the basic rules?
Based on a great success in 2014, The Competence Center for Immigrants (CCI) will hold a seminar about the Norwegian Working Environment Act (Arbeidsmiljøloven) entitled: Employment protection in Norway – what are the basic rules? CCI is a project financed by The Directorate of Integration and Diversity (IMDi) and managed by Chinese Professionals in Norway.
CCI has invited Mr. Tron Dalheim as the seminar speaker. Mr. Tron Dalheim is an excellent lawyer and expert in employment related issues. He will give an overview of Norwegian employment law, including basic employment law issues, such as temporary and permanent employment, working time, leave of absence, termination of employment, transfer of business, discrimination and conflicts at work place. He will focus at practical problems with cases and examples.
Mr. Tron Dalheim is a partner in the employment and pensions practice group in Arntzen de Besche law company. He has 15 years of experience with employment law and is admitted to the Supreme Court bar. He is recognized as a leading lawyer within the field of employment law, and has previous experience from The Norwegian Ship-owner’s Association and the Supreme Court of Norway.
Because of the economic crisis and low oil prices, the current development of the Norwegian labor market is not optimistic. Unemployment is increasing. Cuts in the oil and petroleum sectors have affected many people’s life. Due to lack of information and contact network, employees with immigrant background are often in a weak position in such a tough situation. Therefore, it is important to know more about employment-related Norwegian laws and be aware how to protect one’s legal rights.
