What's at Stake for Norway?
The Antarctic Ocean Alliance cordially invites you to join us for a special event, Protecting Antarctica’s Ocean: What’s at Stake for Norway?, at Oslo’s Litteraturhuset from 12:00-16:00 on October 10th.
This public seminar will explore the ongoing international efforts to establish a network of Marine Protected Areas in Antarctica’s Southern Ocean. As well as creating a historic legacy for future generations, Marine Protected Areas are important for environmental conservation, for the health of fish stocks, and for developing scientific understanding of our planet’s is response to climate change.
The panel discussion will explore questions such as: What is the scientific case for protection of Antarctic waters? Can environmental conservation and fishing co-exist? Will national interests be impacted by the promotion and protection of global commons? And what role does Norway’s play in the global campaign to protect Antarctica waters?
