Launch of the book "Near death" by Miriam Lund Knapstad, June Westerveld and Martin Slottemo Lyngstad
We know we will die someday, but what do we know about how it will happen? In "Near Death" we meet people who are close to death, either because they have death as their everyday work, or because they are nearing the end of life.
The authors show photographs and tell about the people who let them into the vulnerable last phase of life - Anne Kari, Gunnar, Astrid, Anne, Dag Petter, Jarmund and Malin - about their hopes, defeats and ways of facing death.
Program leader Solveig Kloppen, who lost both her mother and sister in the summer of 2017, participates in a panel discussion. Klopp is currently up to date with the documentary series "What I Didn't Say" on TV2 where she shares her personal experience of being close to death. We also meet a consultant at Hospice Lovisenberg, Are Normann, and a nurse at Hospice Stabekk, Charlotte Labori Brusdal. What is it like to work with death closely? What can we learn from those who hire us through sickness, frailty, and the very last days of life?
And if "a good death" exists at all: What is it?
The event is free and open to everyone.
