The Media War behind the Ukraine Crisis
- Two journalists share their experience
In YATA Oslo’s last seminar in the series on «media on conflict», we will talk to two journalists about the situation and the ongoing information war in Russian and Ukrainian media.
Øystein Bogen and Natalia Antonova will visit YATA Oslo on November 27 to share their experiences from the coverage of the Ukraine crisis and discuss how the propaganda through media controls the Russian and Ukrainian people’s view of the conflict.
Øystein Bogen has worked as a foreign correspondent for the Norwegian TV channel TV2 since 1995 and has covered Russia, Eastern Europe and the Balkans. Bogen is educated in Russian, media and TV-production and journalism in Norway and the United States and has also produced a number of documentaries.
Natalia Antonova was born in Kiev, and mostly grew up in the United States. Today she resides in Moscow.
Antonova has previously worked for Moscow News and her writing has been published in Foreign Policy, The Guardian, The Moscow Times and Newsweek Europe, among others. If you want to read more about Antonova you can check out her blog where she writes pieces on the political situation in Russia and Ukraine.
We will hear from our two guest, before we open for questions from the audience. The event is free and open to everyone interested.
Hope to see you there!
