Can new policies make the EU a Power that protects Europe? A way forward in the Cooperation on Security and defence is not a sure thing. Brexit, aggression from Russia, Trump as president, unrest in NATO, terrorism, systems under pressure from large scale migration, growing nationalism and resenment of international cooperation are recent trends that may work against increased sharing of defence resources. And yet there seems to be blowing a new wind in the sails for the EU’s common security and defence policy. What will a more ambitious and structured military cooperation look like? What has been achieved so far, what is planned, and how does Norway fit in? Is the EU even a suitable organisation for defence purposes? Our guests provide some insight and invite you to discuss:
