Journalists, bloggers and activists are risking harassment, arrest and even their lives to report and disseminate information from regions in conflicts and countries fighting to strengthen democracy. What can be done to strengthen freedom of expression and independent media?

How can we better protect journalists, bloggers, writers and activists? The Norwegian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Jonas Gahr Store, will present an initiative aimed at strengthening freedom of expression and independent media in areas of conflict and countries fighting to strengthen democracy. Renowned international journalists and freedom of expression activists will give their accounts and discuss these topical questions, followed by an open debate.
