NHH & NHF: Research and Development Seminar
What role can research play in assessing and documenting effect of development projects in the global South?
The first of the Sustainable Development Goals aims to “end poverty in all its forms everywhere” and include seven targets which explicitly refer to persons with disabilities. Norges andelshøyskole (NHH) and Norges Handikapforbund (NHF) have conducted joint research since 2011 with the aim of gaining a deeper understanding of disability and its relationship with entrepreneurship and poverty reduction.
In 2013, NHH and NHF decided to take a closer look at Norges Handikapforbund’s saving- and credit groups in Uganda, a project that according to its monitoring and evaluation system is performing very well. A comprehensive baseline study was undertaken in 2013 with close to 2000 respondents. A mid-term evaluation was conducted during the summer of 2015 and a comprehensive longer-term evaluation is coming in 2016.
Norges Handelshøyskole will present practical approaches on how to measure effect of saving at the micro level in a developing country context, linked to Norges Handikapforbund’s saving – and credit group project, and present preliminary findings from data collected in June-July this year.
