The Nordic Council Children's and Youth Literature Prize was established by the Nordic Council in 2012. The Nordic Council Children's and Youth Literature Prize was awarded for the first time during the Nordic Council session 2013, together with the other Nordic Council prizes. The award is awarded by a jury with members from the five Nordic countries in addition to the Faroe Islands, Greenland, Åland and the Sami language area.
