The 26th of September is the International Day of Total Elimination of Nuclear Weapons. At this open seminar we will raise important questions about nuclear weapons and about Norway’s role in disarmament affairs. How can we achieve a world free of nuclear weapons? 117 countries have endorsed the Humanitarian Pledge, why is Norway not one of them? Is it meaningful to get a ban on nuclear weapons without the the nuclear weapons states? And is Norway an obstacle to nuclear disarmament?

«Chief Inflammatory Officer» at the anti-nuclear NGO Wildfire, Richard Lennane, will introduce the seminar. Lennane is a former United Nations disarmament official and Australian diplomat.

Panel discussion between
Åsmund Aukrust (Member of Parliament, Arbeiderpartiet)
Sofie Høgestøl (committee on international affairs, Venstre)
Rolf A. Vestvik (project leader, international affairs, Agenda)

Q&A session

Lunch and refreshments will be served.

The seminar is free and open for all, but due to limited capacity we recommend that you send an email to norge@icanw.org before Friday 25th of September 10:00 am, if you wish to participate.
