PROGRAM: 

The Hungarian government is often critizised for it’s authoritarianism. How should we understand that allegation? And what are the implications for the Hungarian society at large? What are the consequences for civil society? The Hungarian researcher and blogger Eszter Nova will present her view in a thought provoking talk. Following Novas talk Eva Sarfi and Gabi Gleichmann will share their thoughts on the political situation in Hungary.

Eszter Nova is a Political Economy Fellow at the Financial Research Plc. in Budapest. Her expertise is the global political economy of the economic crisis, including the emerging populism and authoritarianism in the wake of the crisis. She is also a known blogger, Eva Sarfi, assisistant professor at the Department of Literature, Area Studies and European Languages, University of Oslo and Gabi Gleichmann, author.
