These are the facts:
- At least 80 percent of today's building stock will remain in 2050.
- The market for renovation, remodeling and maintenance of existing building stock (ROT) is about 150 billion . kr ,
- This is about as large as the new housing market for housing and commercial buildings combined.
- There are about 65,000 buildings to be treated according to antiquarian requirements.
Why are there relatively few companies in a market that have the potential to be very large? The Build and Preserve meeting in 2019 will examine the winding market around "old houses" in more detail.
Competence and framework conditions
The cultural heritage protection relies on good companies and craftsmen. Old houses require suitable solutions. The risk of technical and cultural-historical damage to the buildings increases the less experience and knowledge the craftsmen have. Given the challenges of the future, with an increased focus on transformation and energy efficiency, we know that the needs of skilled craftsmen will increase. We depend on the right expertise and we need more talented people!
Different subsidy schemes and framework conditions should in various ways stimulate the development of competence at the companies. It will pay off to be good at building protection! We will take a closer look at some of these schemes, both from the cultural heritage management and from voluntary organizations. To what extent can these schemes help to increase the demand for expertise and get more companies to work with building protection?
Market and organization
Several major restoration projects have been carried out in Norway in recent years. Big projects not only require skilled professionals, they are also required! What challenges does the builder face in implementing such projects and how can the companies in the building protection sector set up to take on large assignments? How do we ensure that the best companies get the assignments?
Exclusive and exclusive?
The challenges are not only reserved for the big projects, but also apply to a large extent in the private market. Is there a lack of knowledge that causes relatively few homeowners to seek the right expertise? Does building protection feel exclusive and exclusive?
We get public sector entrepreneurs, private and voluntary organizations, representatives from large and small companies. And how does it all look from the homeowner's perspective?
