Launch of Human Development Report
Inequalities in human development
United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Oslo SDG Initiative at the University of Oslo are pleased to invite you to the launch of this year’s Human Development Report “Beyond income, beyond averages, beyond today: inequalities in human development in the 21st century.” This report explores how inequalities in our societies have hindered human development and economic growth.
A keynote speech will be held by Minister of International Development Dag-Inge Ulstein and the report will be presented by Assistant Secretary-General and Director of UNDP Bureau for External Relations and Advocacy, Ulrika Modéer.
A panel debate will follow, discussing the contents of the report. This debate will be led by moderator Dan Banik, Professor of political science and Director of the Oslo SDG Initiative.
Participants in the panel debate include Rode Margrete Hegstad, President of the Norwegian Children and Youth Council, Kathrine Sund-Henriksen, Executive Director of the Norwegian Forum for Development and Environment, and Marius Døcker, Managing Director of Business for Peace. Additional participants will be confirmed shortly.
The Human Development Report is the UNDP’s flagship report. Human development is about expanding a concept we usually associate with wealth. This is an approach that not only focuses on economic growth, but which brings people and their choices to the forefront.
