Black Experimental Women Writers
Lecture by Claudia Rankine
Not familiar with Harryette Mullen, Evie Shockley, Tracie Morris, M. NourbeSe Philip or Robin Coste Lewis? These were the writers Claudia Rankine chose when asked by Litteraturhuset to talk about her literary favorites.
In Litteraturhuset’s lecture series “literary guiding stars”, authors talk about their writing role models. Poet and academic Claudia Rankine chose a handful of contemporary American black poets. In different ways, they may all be said to combine stylistic and literary talent with politically charged subjects: power, race, gender, bodies, assault and outsiderness. Rankine describes them as experimental black poets.
Take the opportunity as Rankine gives you a guided tour into the poetry of some of the keenest word painters from the US today.
