Many reports indicate that South Sudan is on the brink of a new civil war and that the country is already collapsing into chaos and disorder. There has been a rise of political tensions in the country and an escalation of violence. Violence in South Sudan is nothing new, but the conflict patterns we are witnessing now are spiraling out of control, with civilians paying the highest price.
The violence inside neighboring Sudan is rapidly spilling over to South Sudan and new alliances are made. The peace agreement is no longer considered a road forward after serious delays in the transitional process.
Following the recent development, what is next for South Sudan? What is the next step for the country? Is a full scale civil war inevitable?
