LAUNCH: The scientific anthology Society and Interaction Under Pressure: Implications for Educational Practice and Theory (edited by Glenn-Egil Torgersen, Herner Saeverot, and Linnéa Jermstad) provides new perspectives and findings on what happens when various types of pressure impact the concept of interaction in the upbringing sector, kindergartens, schools, upper secondary education, child welfare, and in educational research and higher education.
The question is whether this pressure may already have created ripple effects concerning how interaction occurs in school, upbringing, education, and research, and especially regarding how these professions are governed and managed.
The book is a result of a large foundational research and interaction project with 40 prominent researchers from 15 research and educational institutions in Norway, the UK, and the USA. The leading research question for the work has been:
There are many indications that society and interaction are under pressure: What does this pressure consist of, and what are its implications for educational practice and theory?
The research is reported in 35 studies (600 pages) and includes concrete examples from the school, upbringing, and education sectors. Therefore, the book is relevant for anyone working with educational disciplines and challenges, especially related to interaction, both in practice and as a phenomenon and concept. The book is available via Open Access at Cappelen Damm Forskning. Links to the book and other information will be provided at the launch.
PROGRAM (11:30-15:00, open from 11:00): The launch will include short presentations from the authors of individual chapters, discussions, and main conclusions – and the way forward. A simple lunch will be served from 11:00. Coffee, soft drinks, and cakes will be available during the launch. The launch will be held in Norwegian.
Welcome to the book launch and research-based mini-seminar on the importance of interaction for educational practice and theory, as part of the UN’s World Children’s Day (20/11), Friday, November 22, 2024.
