Children and Youth
The House of Literature aims to convey and promote interest in literature and reading, and to be a meeting place for everyone interested in books, and this of course includes children and teenagers. The House of Literature has a diverse programme with this age group in mind – both for kindergarten groups and school classes, families and teenagers, with approximately 24 000 visitors every year.
Children’s room
The children’s room Sjeherasad has its name from the narrator in One Thousand and One Nights. The door to the room is child’s size, the bookshelves are full of children’s books, and you can stack pillows in a huge pillow amphitheatre. In May 2008, Sjeherasad opened its doors to all the kindergartens in Oslo and since then over 8000 kindergarten children a year have visited the room.
The children’s room is open on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays and only for prebooked groups from kindergardens. Bookings can be made at: barnehage@litteraturhuset.no.
